Abstract

This study aimed to examine the process of Arabic language acquisition through immersion among native Arabic speakers. It explored how Arabic is learned through imitation and emulation and assessed the effectiveness and efficiency of this method for non-native speakers. In our Linguistics program, we are committed to establishing a cognitive and institutional foundation grounded in experimentation. To this end, Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities has launched an educational initiative designed to facilitate Arabic language acquisition for speakers of other languages. This program serves international students and offers a set of pedagogical strategies and methods aligned with contemporary theories of language acquisition. By providing an immersive learning environment, the program enables non-native learners to grasp the fundamental principles of the Arabic language. We aimed to establish an optimal epistemological framework for acquiring Classical Arabic—one that integrates experimental and innovative educational approaches. This approach moved beyond traditional learning methods that focus primarily on teaching rules, concepts, and literary texts, and instead aligns with modern educational perspectives on language acquisition. These are the central objectives of our research. Furthermore, the impact of this Linguistic program was evaluated through an analysis of pre- and post-test results in the four core language skills of participating learners. The findings reveal both linguistic and cultural gains achieved through the “Language Partner" program, underscoring the need to update current educational methods and structures.
