Abstract

Handicrafts are the most important aspect of our heritage and culture, as they play an important role in our identity, so some countries with a cultural history invest in these crafts to keep pace with the modern era to show their beauty and improve their status. Handicrafts are a rich source of culture that requires renewal to keep pace with the developments of the era. Perhaps the most important of these crafts in the Arab Republic of Egypt is tapestry or handmade kilim, as it has many formative capabilities that make it move from the traditional framework to new and contemporary formations. The research problem came in the extent to which the formative capabilities of tapestry fabric can be utilized to create various designs that can be implemented and employed as clothing and decorative accessories. Therefore, the importance of the research comes in shedding light on the importance of hand-woven textiles as one of the traditional crafts to develop and implement them with a modern vision that can be employed as clothing and decorative accessories. The research aims to conduct design experiments for clothing and interior design accessories and implement them in the tapestry style "hand-made kilim" as a traditional handicraft that carries many aesthetic and technical concepts and values. The research followed the descriptive approach through the theoretical aspect and the analytical approach through the practical aspect.
