Recently, the world has increasingly adopted clean and green energy sources, focusing on environmental preservation and raising awareness about the impacts of climate change and carbon emissions from factories. Renewable energy plays a key role in reducing carbon emissions, a major contributor to climate change, while also lowering costs, especially with rising electricity prices. The transition to renewable energy is urgent due to its continuous and inexhaustible availability, unlike traditional energy sources.
This research investigates how the use of renewable energy in industrial factories can contribute to environmental preservation and cost reduction. The study focuses on renewable energy's benefits and its role in reducing pollution from traditional energy sources. It aims to achieve sustainability through the use of renewable energy in a metal products factory, reducing electricity consumption costs.
A case study of a metal products factory was conducted, where solar energy was selected due to its widespread availability. The factory's surface area was calculated for solar panel installation, which was found to be sufficient to meet the required electrical capacity. Energy costs were analyzed in three scenarios: electricity-only, on-grid, and off-grid solar systems.
If long-term cost savings are the priority, the on-grid solar system is the most cost-effective and sustainable option. Implementing this plan is expected to result in significant savings and reduced dependence on traditional electricity, helping to enhance environmental sustainability. A comprehensive plan was developed, considering financial and technical aspects, along with continuous monitoring and evaluation of results.
