ولجت إلى البحث من عدة أوجه لأهميته، كانت بدورها أسبابًا حافزة إلى اختياره للدراسة، وكان في صدارتها المكانة العلمية للحافظ أبي يعلى الخليلي، والقيمة العلمية لكتابه "الإرشاد في معرفة علماء الحديث"، ووقوع الخليلي فيه في أوهام تعوق عن الإفادة منه، مما حسَّن للنظر محاولة حصر ما يتعلق من تلك الأوهام بالرواة والأحاديث.

 ثم قصدت - في ضوء خطته - إلى مادته البحثية التي جاءت في ثلاثة مباحث؛ فكان أولها: ترجمة مختصرة للحافظ أبي يعلى الخليلي، والتعريف بكتاب "الإرشاد في معرفة علماء الحديث"، وجرى تقسيمه إلى مطلبين، ثم كان المبحث الثاني عن أوهام الخليلي في الرواة في الكتاب، وقد جاء في خمسة مطالب، واختتمت بالمبحث الثالث عن أوهام الخليلي في الأحاديث في الكتاب، وجاء في أربعة مطالب. ثم استوفى البحث مادته بخاتمة عرضت فيها لأهم نتائجه وأهم توصياته.
I approached the research from several angles due to its importance, which were motivating factors for choosing it for study. At the forefront was the scientific status of Al-Hafiz Abu Ya'la Al-Khalili and the scientific value of his book "Guidance in the Knowledge of Hadith Scholars", as well as Al-Khalili's occurrence in illusions that hinder benefiting from it, which prompted the attempt to identify those illusions related to narrators and hadiths. The first section included a brief biography of Al-Hafiz Abu Ya'la Al-Khalili and an introduction to the book "Guidance in the Knowledge of Hadith Scholars", which was divided into two parts. The second section discussed Al-Khalili's illusions regarding the narrators in the book, consisting of five parts, and concluded with the third section on Al-Khalili's illusions in the hadiths in the book, which included four parts. The research concluded with a summary of its most important findings and recommendations.
