The research aimed to identify some of the social, economic, and psychological characteristics of the respondents and determine the degree of use and benefit of the farmers surveyed from social networking sites in obtaining information and knowledge related to development fields in the rural community, and to identify the impact of the social, economic and psychological characteristics of the respondents on their access to development information and knowledge in the study area.
This study was conducted in the first and second Abis areas of Alexandria Governorate. The sample size of the respondents from the heads of households was determined based on the Herbert Arkin equation, and the total sample size was 380 respondents. The simple random sample method was used to collect data from the respondents through personal interview questionnaires. Some descriptive and analytical statistical methods were used.
The most important results were as follows: The first variable included in the regression equation is the educational level, which alone contributed about 9.9% in explaining the variance in the variable of analyzing the user of social media to obtain development information and knowledge, excluding other variables, followed by the variable of the degree of participation in social organizations with about 5.8%, and in third place is the variable of the degree of satisfaction with local community services with about 5.6%, and in fourth place came the variable of the number of hours of connection to the Internet with about 2.9%, and in fifth and last place came the variable of the number of years of Internet presence at home with about 1.5%.
