The current study was directed towards comparing the labio-palatal position of maxillary impacted canine on panoramic radiograph and trying to locate any reliable angular-linear measurement to determine the labio-palatal position of the impacted tooth. 60 cone-beam computed tomography x-rays were used for the same cases, 30 with buccal impacted canine and 30 with palatal impacted canine to identify each case whether it is buccaly impacted or palatal. In the present study 6 measurements were specified on the panoramic radiograph (3 angular- 1 linear- 2 sectors) to compare it to the actual impaction site (through the CBCT) of the impacted canines and examine their reliability in determining the actual impaction site. From the selected 6 measurements that have been worked on, there were no significant point found to be reliable for defining the exact labio-palatal position of maxillary impacted canines. Based on the results of the present study, it was concluded that; panoramic radiograph is not reliable for localization of the labiopalatal position of the maxillary impacted canine through the chosen linear and angular measurements was tested on this study.
