يتناول هذا البحث موضوع حق المريض النفسي في العلاج الاختياري في ظل احترام حقوق الإنسان بصفة عامة وحقوق المريض بصفه خاصة، فقد بدأ الاعتراف بمجموعة من الحقوق لصالح المريض النفسي بعد أن كان المريض النفسي مهملا ليس محل اهتمام سواء علي المستوي الوطني أو المستوي الدولي ، لكن ما لبث أن حظيت رعاية المريض النفسي باهتمام كبير علي المستوي الداخلي وذلك بإصدار التشريعات التي تنظم طريقة معاملة وكذلك تقرير مجموعة من الحقوق له في الاتفاقيات الدولية. This research deals with the subject of the right of the mentally ill to elective treatment in light of respect for human rights in general and the rights of the patient in particular. A group of rights began to be recognized in favor of the mentally ill after the mentally ill was neglected and not of interest, whether at the national or international level. However, the care of the mentally ill soon received great attention at the domestic level by issuing legislation that regulates the method of treatment as well as establishing a group of rights for him in international agreements.
