علم الجرح والتعديل من أهم علوم الحديث، ولقد قيض الله ¸ لهذا العلم أئمة أعلامًا شمَّروا واجتهدوا في تمحيص الرواة ومعرفة أحوالهم، وألزموا أنفسهم الكشف عن معايب رواة الحديث، وبهذا العلم يتميز مقبول الحديث من مردوده، وصحيحه من سقيمه. ومن أهم الأسباب التي دفعتني للكتابة في هذا البحث مكانة الإمام أحمد بن حنبل في نقد الرجال وكثرة الرواة الذين تكلم عليهم في الجرح والتعديل. وأنه قد يظن بعض أهل هذا العصر ممن لم يكن لهم دراية كاملة بعلم الجرح والتعديل، ولا بمدلولات الألفاظ أن لفظ «لا أعرفه» المراد به الجهالة المطلقة لذا فقد يحكمون على بعض الأحاديث بالضعف، ويكون المراد غير هذا؛ فكان من الواجب علينا أن نبين المراد بهذا اللفظ عند الإمام أحمد «لا أعرفه» مع المقارنة بغيره عند النقاد. وكان لا بد من جمع الرواة الذين لم يعرفهم الإمام أحمد ممن لهم رواية في الكتب الستة مع دراستهم ومقارنة قوله، مع قول غيره من النقاد، ومن ثم بيان أحوالهم، وبيان مجهولهم من معروفهم. وقد أدى البحث إلى عدة نتائج يمكن إيجازها في أنه لا يلزم من إطلاق الإمام أحمد عبارة «لا أعرفه» على الراوي عدم معرفة غيره به، بل ينبغي التحري والتثبت من حال هذا الراوي جيدًا، فأحيانًا يكون مقصوده، أنه لا يعرف حال هذا الراوي، لكن قد يعرفه غيره، وبالفعل قد عُرف الكثير من هؤلاء الرواة، وقد وَثَقَ العلماء بعضهم. Abstract: The science of criticism and authentication is one of the most important sciences of hadith, and Allah has provided for this science eminent imams who have worked hard and strove to scrutinize the narrators and know their conditions, and have obliged themselves to uncover the faults of the narrators of hadith, and with this science the acceptable hadith is distinguished from its rejected one, and its authenticity from its weakness. One of the most important reasons that prompted me to write in this research is the position of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal in criticizing men and the large number of narrators who spoke about criticism and authentication. Some people of this era who do not have full knowledge of the science of criticism and authentication, or the meanings of words, may think that the phrase "I do not know him" means absolute ignorance, so they may judge some hadiths as weak, but the intended meaning is something else; it was our duty to clarify what is meant by this phrase in Imam Ahmad "I do not know him" while comparing it with others among the critics. It was necessary to collect the narrators who were not known by Imam Ahmad, who have narrations in the six books, while studying them and comparing his statement with the statement of other critics, and then clarifying their conditions, and clarifying their unknowns from their known ones. The research led to several results that can be summarized in that Imam Ahmad's use of the phrase "I do not know him" on the narrator does not necessarily mean that others do not know him, but rather one should investigate and verify the condition of this narrator well, sometimes what he meant was that he did not know the condition of this narrator, but others may know him, and indeed many of these narrators have been known, and scholars have documented some of them.
