كتاب (وصف الاهتدا في الوقف والابتدا) للإمام الجعبري حافل بذكر القراءات المتواترة والشاذة التي لها تأثير على الوقف والابتداء، وقد اخترت القراءات الشاذة لتكون موضع الدراسة.  وقد انفرد الإمام الجعبري في هذا الكتاب بمنهج متميز عن سابِقِيه؛ حيث ذكر أنواعاً للوقف لم يذكرها غيره؛ فأقسام الوقف ومصطلحاته عنده ثمانية: كامل، وتام، وكاف، وصالح، ومفهوم، وجائز، ومتجاذب، وناقص. ويلاحظ أن مصطلحات التام والكافي والجائز يختلف مفهومها عند الجعبري عن معناها عند جمهور علماء الوقف. ولا أعلم أحدا استعمل مصطلح الوقف الكامل قبل الجعبرى. كما أنه يُجَوِّز الوقف قبل التوابع: النعت والتوكيد وعطف البيان وعطف النسق والبدل، وقبل الحال والمفعول والجواب... وقد ذكر أنه لا يوجد وقف محرم ولا لازم، بل وصل الكل والوقف على كل كلمة مستقلة جائز؛ لذا كانت مواضع الوقف عنده كثيرة. وفي هذا البحث إبراز للعلاقة بين علم القراءات وعلم الوقف والابتداء وكذا علم التفسير، وعلم اللغة. وقد تضمن هذا البحث التعريف بالعلامة الجعبري وبكتابه، وبيانَ تأثير القراءات الشاذة على الوقف والابتداء في كتابه؛ حيث أثَّرت على نوع الوقف وحكمه ودرجته، وفي بعض المواضع قد تلغي وقفا، أو تنشئ وقفا جديدا. كما استعان بالقراءات لتأييد الوقف أو الوصل، أو إعراب معين، أو معنى معين. ومما يؤخذ على المؤلف عدم نسبة أكثر القراءات القرآنية التي أوردها في كتابه إلى أصحابها فقد كان يكتفى بذكر القراءة دون أن يصرح بمن قرأ بها. كما أن الجعبري لم يستوف كل القراءات الشاذة التي لها أثر على الوقف والابتداء. ولم يميز بين المتواترة والشاذة. وقد اتبعت في هذا البحث المنهج الاستقرائي المقترن بالمنهج الوصفي ثم التحليلي. Abstract: The book (Description of Guidance in Stopping and Starting) by Imam Al-Ja'bari is full of mention of the transmitted and anomalous readings that have an effect on stopping and starting, and I have chosen the anomalous readings to be the subject of the study. Imam Al-Ja'bari has distinguished himself in this book with a method that is distinct from his predecessors, as he mentioned types of pause that no one else mentioned. He has eight types of pause and its terminology: complete, perfect, sufficient, valid, understood, permissible, attractive, and incomplete. He also allows pause before dependents: adjective, emphasis, explanatory conjunction, sequential conjunction, and substitute, and before the state, object, and response.... He mentioned that there is no forbidden or obligatory pause, rather connecting the whole and pausing on each independent word is permissible. This research highlights the relationship between the science of readings, the science of stopping and starting, as well as the science of interpretation and the science of language. This research included an introduction to the scholar Al-Ja'bari and his book, and a statement of the effect of the anomalous readings on stopping and starting in his book, as they affected the type of stopping, its ruling and its degree, and in some places it may cancel a stopping, or create a new stopping, as he used the readings to support the stopping or connecting, or a specific grammar, or a specific meaning, and what is taken from the author is not attributing most of the Quranic readings that he mentioned in his book to their owners, as he was satisfied with mentioning the reading without stating who read it. Al-Ja'bari also did not include all the anomalous readings that have an effect on stopping and starting, and he did not distinguish between the continuous and the anomalous. In this research, I followed the inductive approach combined with the descriptive and then analytical approach.
