Abstract

Cosmic architecture began and evolved in the early ages under the embrace of the universe, drawing from it and finding shelter in its shade. It was closely intertwined with the cosmos, making it difficult to separate the universe from the building. For instance, early humans lived in caves, believing they resided in the womb of the Earth. From the third century onwards, with the emergence of Euclidean and Ptolemaic geometry, astronomy prevailed in the world.(1) It was essential to have a scientific understanding of the framework of geometric imagination that initiated explanations for the origin of the universe.(2)
Distinguished global communities, especially Arab societies, have experienced a split and duality between heritage and identity, influenced by technology and the developments of the modern age. As a result, architecture has lost its spirit and has become a lifeless body. This has led to what is known as globalization, which has made buildings resemble one another all over the world, prioritizing material over spirit.
The importance of studying cosmic architecture lies in the deep examination of verbal or visual texts (such as architecture) and discovering the idea behind the architectural text in the Islamic era. Is the Islamic era one of the most significant periods that showcased cosmic architecture in a distinctive way?
As an era rich in distinctive architectural buildings.
