Abstract

It has been possible to produce Schiff base (L) from 2-amino Benzothiazole and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The ligand (L) interacted with the metals VO2+ as a neutral bi-dentate ligand through its azomethine group and nitrogen of the thiazol ring. 1H & 13C NMR spectra, FT-IR spectra, UV-Vis, CHN-analysis, and molar conductance characterized the novel compound (LV). There is a 1:1 Molar ratio of LV Complex with square pyramidal. The LV complex's stability constant was also determined in solution, and the pH profile shows the complex's strong stability. In vitro tests were conducted to evaluate the strong antibacterial activity of the compound (LV) against several antimicrobials. Additionally, their cytotoxic activity was investigated against the cancer cell lines MCF-7, HCT-116, and HepG2. It was evident that the (LV) complex exhibited substantial cytotoxicity. The findings show an IC50 value, indicating the potential anticancer properties of the VO(II) complex. In addition, the compound (LV) demonstrated strong reactivity in capturing free radicals when their antioxidant activity was investigated.
