يعتمد نموذج الأهداف على ممارسة الأنشطة الجماعية التي يعتقد أن نتائجها تقوي وتعزز العمل المشترك بين الأعضاء التي تساعد على توطيد صلاتهم مع الجماعات المتنوعة وهيئات وبناءات المجتمع، ويعد الجماعة لمواجهة حقيقة انفصاله عنها وذلك في المرحلة الأخيرة من حياة الجماعة التي تطلب أن يكون أمينا في عرض ما حدث من تقدم ونمو وخبرة لأعضاء الجماعة، حيث تساهم النماذج في مساعدة الأخصائي علي إيجاد حلول للمشكلات التي قد لا يستطيع مواجهتها في الممارسة ويسعي الأخصائي نحو مواجهة تلك الصعوبات من خلال موجهات النموذج وإتباع خطواته العلمية.
