Abstract

This study presents a detailed seismic interpretation of the Bahariya and Kharita formations within Alfadl and Al-Qadr Fields, located in the Northeast Abu Gharadig (NEAG) Basin, Western Desert, Egypt. Utilizing seismic data and PETREL software, mapping and analyzing the subsurface structures of Kharita (Lower Cretaceous, Albian) and Bahariya (Upper Cretaceous, Cenomanian) Formations for better understanding of hydrocarbon potential. This study identified two main reflectors using seismic data: the Kharita Formation and the Bahariya Formation. The Kharita Formation locates at depths ranging from 1400 to 1500 meters (TVD), and the overlying Bahariya Formation at depths from 1207 to 1234 meters (TVD). The dominant structural feature is a major anticlinal fold, attributed to compressional forces associated with the Syrian Arc system, which creates favorable conditions for hydrocarbon trapping. Additionally, the anticline is segmented by normal faults, indicating extensional forces that also contribute to structural trapping mechanisms. The obtained results include detailed time and depth structure contour maps, which illustrate the spatial distribution of these reflectors and associated fault systems. This comprehensive seismic analysis provides valuable insights into the hydrocarbon prospects of the study area, highlighting potential targets for future exploration.
