يعتبر برتراندرسل شيخ الفلاسفة المعاصرين، وكان ينحدر من أسرة أرستقراطية، وكان فيلسوفا ومنطقيا ومصلحا اجتماعيا بريطانيا. كتب في مجالات عديدة ومشكلات معاصرة وادلى فيها بدلوه فيها. ويعد رسل من مؤسسي الحركة التحليلية في الفلسفة الأنجلو أمريكية. وقد حصل على جائزة نوبل في الأدب عام 1950.
له مؤلفات عديدة تربو على السبعين كتابا فضلا عن مقالات عديدة تصل إلى الآلفين.
انصب اهتمامه على علوم الرياضيات والمنطق والفلسفة ونتائج العلوم الفيزيائية والفلكية وانتهى بعلم النفس والاجتماع والتربية والأخلاق والسياسة.
طبق رسل التفكير النقدي في مجالات عدة من فلسفته: فلسفة الرياضيات، فلسفة التربية والتعليم، المنطق وعالم الواقع، ثنائية العقل والمادة، الأخلاق والسياسة والدين، والمنطق ونظرية المعرفة.

Abstract
Bertrand Russell (1872–1970) is considered the father of contemporary philosophers. He came from an aristocratic family and was a British philosopher, logician, and social reformer. Russell wrote extensively on various fields and contemporary issues, offering his valuable contributions. Russell is regarded as one of the founders of the analytic movement in Anglo-American philosophy, and he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950. He authored more than seventy books and over two thousand articles. His interests encompassed mathematics, logic, philosophy, and the implications of physical and astronomical sciences, eventually extending to psychology, sociology, education, ethics, and politics. Russell applied critical thinking across various areas of his philosophy, including: mathematical philosophy, philosophy of education, logic and reality, the dualism of mind and matter, ethics, politics and religion, logic and epistemology.
