This study examined the distribution and composition of macroalgae species in the Pangandaran Coastal ecotourism area, particularly in Madasari, Karapyak, and Pasir Putih intertidal zones. Macroalgae in this region play a crucial function in marine ecosystems and possess significant economic value in the food. The study aimed to discover macroalgae species and to analyze the environmental factors affecting their distribution. Data were collected by a survey method in three locations, indicating substrate alterations. The investigation included geographical and quantitative descriptive methods using multidimensional scaling. The finding revealed 59 species of marine macroalgae recorded in Pangandaran Coastal, categorized into Rhodophyta, Chlorophyta, and Ochrophyta, with Chlorophyta being the most prevalent group. Madasari exhibits a greater frequency and coverage of macroalgae relative to other locations. The alien macroalgae Ulva lactuca and U. flexuosa predominate along the Pangandaran Coast. The habitat type, temperature, organic levels, and tourism traffic are critical factors influencing the distribution and abundance of macroalgae in the Pangandaran intertidal zone. This discovery is anticipated to enhance the sustainable management of Pangandaran ecotourism by considering macroalgae variety and its impact on environmental parameters.
