Abstract

Corruption is a scourge that undermines the economies of countries around the world,

particularly those in Africa. Concerned about the negative impact of this phenomenon and

its detrimental consequences on the economic and social development of African peoples,

the heads of state adopted the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating

Corruption on July 11, 2003, in Maputo, Mozambique, during the 2nd ordinary session of the

Assembly of States Parties of the African Union
