The study aimed to evaluate the protective impact of antioxidant effect of white tea and lemon grass powder against liver toxicity caused by Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in rats. Albino rats of up to 48 rats divided into 8 groups with each group containing 6 rats. Group 1 fed a standard diet served as -ve. Groups 2-to and 8 intraperitonially injected with carbon tetrachloride to cause rats' liver poisoning through injections 2 times a week during the trial period (28 days). Group 2 which served as +ve and took the basic diet, while groups 3 and 4 received the basic diet with 2.5% and 5% white tea powder (WTP), respectively, while the two groups 5 and 6 received basic diet with 2 .5% and 5% lemon grass powder (LGP), respectively, 2 groups called 7 and 8 received basic diet with 2.5% and 5% of WTP and LGP mixture. At the end of the trial time, blood samples were collected to biochemical assays. Results revealed that both study materials contained a percentage of polyphenols with high levels of DPPH,. Moreover, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, total cholesterol, triglycerides, very low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol were significantly decreased. High-density lipoprotein-cholesterol was significantly increased. Besides, oxidizing biomarkers, antioxidants that showed a significant rise in catalase (CAT), and a significant decrease in malondialdehyde (MDA) were identified. This study suggests the possibility of using both white tea powder and lemon grass in preventing liver toxicity factors in humans after make studies on them.
