Abstract:
The book of Sunan – by Imam Abu Dawud Al-sijistani-enjoys a high place among the Hadith books because of its scientific value; it is one of the Great Books of the prophetic Sunnah, and the pens of researchers are still dealing with pieces of it with study, criticism and analysis.
It is agreed among the scholars of hadith that Imam Abu Dawood (may Allah have mercy on him) did not commit himself to document the correct in his Sunan; he narrates the correct, good and weak, and he stated in his message to the people of Mecca that he shows what is very weak in it , and that what he did not mention anything in it is valid.
The scholars have differed in the interpretation of his saying ; valid (Salih) as to what was silenced , as the phrase implies his validity for argument – which means that it is correct or good–, and also his validity for considering – which means that it is weak –.
The hadith with easy weakness and the multiplicity of his ways of narration –is repaired , and rises to the degree of Good by Virtue of Another Hadith ،If it is not have a follow – up, it is – for some – valid in sermons, virtues, and so on, which has nothing to do with lawful and unlawful , halal and haram.
One of the chains of transmission of Imam Abu Dawud in his Sunan caught my attention for several reasons, the most prominent of which are: his repetition - without any useful reason of hadith - in six places from the Book of Sunan, despite the silence of Imam Abu Dawud on it, and the declaration of some imams that it is weak, and it is his narration on the authority of Muhammad bin Dawud bin Sufyan. On the authority of Yahya bin Hassan, on the authority of Suleiman bin Musa, on the authority of Jafar bin Saad bin Samurah, on the authority of Khubayb bin Sulayman, on the authority of his father (Sulaiman bin Samurah), on the authority of his father (Samurah bin Jundob - May Allah be pleased with him -).
It seemed to me that I should stop with these six hadiths – documentation , study and commentary–; perhaps I would realize something of the secrets of Imam Abu Dawood's silence on this Isnad.
