Abstract

Today, the world of digital photography faces a strong competitor in image production, which is called computer-generated imagery or "CGI", and is usually used to refer to three-dimensional computer graphics used in making photographs in full. At the beginning of the use of (CGI) techniques, this technology was not able to provide visual realism capable of convincing the viewer that the content of the image is real or realistic. Over the decades, 3D technology has developed to the point of creating visual photographic realism in the produced image. The trend has emerged to use (CGI) technology in producing commercial advertising images, without relying on photography in the production process, due to its achievement of an excellent degree of simulation and realism. The research problem is determined by the fact that the beginning of digitization of photography was by cancelling the sensitive film, which eliminated the chemical treatments of photographic materials. The sensitive film was replaced by the light sensor, and graphic treatments became done digitally, until the computer became a tool for producing images without a camera. This technological development had a great impact on the design of photographs, so what is called digital arts appeared. Hence the main question of the research problem: What is the method of producing CGI? What are the programs used for this? What is its impact on contemporary photography?
