يتناول البحث بالدراسة والتحليل والمقارنة ما دونه الإيطالي كارلو ألفونسو نَلِّينو(Carlo Alfonso Nallino) في كتابه عن مدينة جدة،من معلومات هامة عن تاريخها ومينائها وعمارتها الدينية والمدنية والعسكرية،بالإضافة إلى النواحي الاقتصادية بها، وأيضًا ما قدمته ابنته ماريا(Maria) من إضافات تتعلق بالعادات والتقاليد وملابس النساء في مدينة جدة ، وأهمية هذه المادة العلمية لا تكمن في كونها مصدرًا مهمًا لتاريخ مدينة جدة فحسب بل لكونها لم يسبق ترجمتها على حد علم الباحثة.
