Abstract

This study aimed mainly to determining Prospects of Extension Work for reducing the deterioration of Fig crops in El-Hamam distract at Matrouh Governorate, this goal can be reached through achieving the following objectives:  1) Identifying some personal characteristics of the respondents.2) Identifying the core problems concerning both causes of for reducing the deterioration of Fig crops from respondents viewpoint.  3) Identifying the extension services provided by agricultural extension to fig farmers, the degree of their availability, the degree of their quality, and the degree of benefit from them.4) Identifying the obstacles facing the respondent farmers when obtaining extension services in the field of fig crops in the study area.            A simple random sample was selected from the files of  the respondents Farmers  in Matrouh Governorate.The sample was (87) Farmers respondents representing (10.0%) from Farmers respondents. Data were collected through the personal interviews with the respondents during Augustto Oct. 2020.           To analyze the data in this research statistically, it has been used the numerical and tabular presentation of repetitive and percentages, the arithmetic mean,  and standard deviation, to display some of the results that have been obtained by, using the computer program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences SPSS The most important results were as follows:             Concerning the core problems of Fig crops,There are three axes of problems, namely the technical and production problems, the economic and marketing problems, and the social problems. They were summed up in (11 central problems), and the direct causes of these pivotal problems amounted to (32 reasons).            The results showed that 32.2% of the respondents indicated that there are no extension services available to fig farmers, while 50.5% indicated that these extension services are available to fig farmers, but in a lowdegree, and 17.2% indicated that these extension services are available, but in a medium degree.           It was found that  The level of extension quality services introduced to Fig farmers was low according 53.0% of respondents viewpoints, moderate and high for about 10.2%, 4.6% respondents farmers their points of view about the extension quality services. It was found that 32.2% of the respondents indicated that they did not benefit from the extension services provided to fig farmers, and 43.7%, 18.4%, and 5.7% indicated that the benefit from the available services was small, medium, and large, respectively.
