Abstract

The present work was done at privet lab., in the two seasons of 2022 and 2023 to examine the post-harvest effect of SO2 (1g/kg), Salicylic acid (2ml/L), ethanol (20%), modified atmosphere package, chitosan (5%), and calcium chloride (1%) on grape berries fruits physicochemical parameters during cold storage. The obtained results confirmed that berries' physical and chemical properties were significantly affected by post-harvest application, cold storage periods, and their interaction in both seasons. The lowest reduction in weight, respiration rate, berries shatter fungi decay as well as berries contents of TSS and total acidity while the highest berries firmness and maturity index were recorded in berries fruits that were treated with Chitosan in both seasons. the largest berries contents of total sugars and reducing sugars were recorded under the control treatment followed by CaCl2 and SO2 in the two seasons. According to the findings about the effects of cold storage periods, weight loss, berry shattering, and fungal decay along with TSS, maturity index, total reducing and non-reducing sugars rose gradually with the lengthening of the cold storage period in both seasons. While berries' firmness and respiration rate reduced when the cold storage period was extended over both seasons.
