Abstract

Fish is considered one of the main sources of animal protein with high nutritional value, cheap and rich in animal protein. Fish production farms vary in sight, the most important of which are governmental farms, private farms, and cage culture, and each of them contributes about 1.02%, 82.5%, and 14.1%, respectively, of the total production of fish farming in Egypt, while farming in fields, semi-intensive farming, and intensive farming represents About 2.35% of the total fish farming production during the study period (2001-2020). It was found through the study that there is a statistically significant increase in the amount of total production of fish farming of all kinds. By evaluating the performance of fish farming projects in Egypt, when compared to natural fisheries during the period (2019-2020), it was found that there is a decrease in production by about 3.05% compared to natural fisheries in a year. The economic evaluation of fish production projects showed that the sector contributes about 11.43% of the agricultural national income, compared to about 35.07% and 53.49% for animal and plant production projects, respectively, during the year (2020).
