من المسائل التي بحثها المحدثون لأجل صحة الحديث: مسألة سماع الرواة من أشياخهم، ومن هذه السماعات التي اختلفت فيها وجهات نظر المحدثين: سماع الإمام الزهري من نفر من الصحابة، وهذا البحث يهدف إلى بيان عدد الصحابة الذين ثبت للزهري لقاؤهم، ومن لم يثبت له لقاؤهم والمختلف في لقائه بهم، وهل تاريخ ولادة الزهري يحتمل لقاء بعض الصحابة؟ وهل يعد ابن شهاب الزهري من صغار التابعين كما حكاه ابن الصلاح؟ وكشف البحث عن أسماء رجال ثبت للزهري اللقاء بهم، ولم تثبت لهم صحبة.
وقد توصل البحث إلى عدة نتائج منها:

أنه لم يختلف العلماء في اسمه ولا كنيته- رحمه الله- واختلفوا في تاريخ ولادته ووفاته .
اتفاق العلماء على جلالة ومنزلة الزهري رحمه الله .
ثبت سماع الزهري لتسعة من الصحابة رضي الله عنهم .
اختلف في سماع الزهري من ابن عمر رضي الله عنهم .
ثلاثة من الصحابة ذُكروا فيمن سمع منهم الزهري، والصواب خلاف ذلك .
أربعة ممن اختلف في صحبتهم، وثبت سماع الزهري منهم .
أن الزهري من صغار التابعين كما حكى ذلك ابن الصلاح يرحمه الله .

Among the issues that the hadith scholars have researched for the authenticity of the hadith: The issue of the narrators hearing from their sheikhs; And among these hearings in which the hadith scholars' viewpoints differed: Hearing Imam Al-Zuhri from a group of the Companions. The current research aims to clarify the number of companions whom Al-Zuhri was proven to have met, those whom it was not proven to have met, and the disagreement in his meeting with them. Is the date of Al-Zuhri's birth likely to meet some of the companions? Is Ibn Shihab Al-Zuhri considered one of the junior followers, as Ibn Al-Salah narrated? The research reveals the names of men with whom Al-Zuhri was confirmed to have met, but whose companionship was not confirmed
The research reached several results, including: - The scholars did not differ regarding his name or surname - may God have mercy on him - and they differed regarding the date of his birth and death. - Scholars agree on the majesty and status of Al-Zuhri, may God have mercy on him. It was proven that Al-Zuhri heard nine of the Companions, may God be pleased with them. - There was a difference of opinion regarding hearing Al-Zuhri from Ibn Omar, may God be pleased with them
