حين مثَّلت قضية الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر واحدةً من أبرز القضايا التي تعكس فاعلية هذا الدين،وقدرته الذاتية على الامتداد زمانًا ومكانًا كان لابد وأن تتعدد السياقات الكاشفة عن دلالاتها المتنوعة؛ لذا أتى هذا البحث ليقرأ القضية في سياقها الحضاري بمفرداته المختلفة كالتهذيب الذاتي، والتكريم، والاستخلاف، والتسخير، والفعالية الحضارية، والشهود الحضاري.
   وقد توصل البحث إلى العديد من النتائج أبرزها: أن هناك محورية  للسياق الحضاري باعتباره مقصدًا عظيمًا من مقاصد هذا الدين، وأنه إذا كان التهذيب الذاتي هو الانطلاقة الحقيقية لأي بناء حضاري، فإن الأمر بالمعروف والنهي يحقق هذا التهذيب من خلال العديد من المسالك، ومن هذه النتائج كذلك أن المفهوم الأوَّلي للمعروف الذي يُؤمَر به في الإسلام ينضوي تحته كل حركة إنسانية هادفة كجزء لا يتجزأ من مفهوم الاستخلاف القرآني، وأخيرًا فإن الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر يمثل الركيزة الأساسية في تحقق الأمة بجوهر خيريتها؛ ومن ثم تمثلها بمستلزمات الشهود الحضاري.
