سيظل الحديث الشريف غضًا نضرًا ثريًا بالمادة البحثية يجد فيه كل قاصد بغيته، وكل ناشد ضالته، وما أجلَّ وأعظم، وأجمل وأكرم من أن يكون البحث متعلقًا ومرتبطًا بالقرآن الكريم أو السنة النبوية المطهرة؛ لذا اخترت أن يكون موضع بحثي هذا متعلقًا بالسنة، واخترت له حديثًا قلما يخلو منه كتاب من كتب الفقه أو الأصول؛ لأهميته وعلو مكانته عمومًا وخصوصًا في باب التخريج، فبينت أهمية الحديث، وخرجته، وبينت موقعه بيـن المحدثيـن والأصولييـن والفقهاء، والاحتجاج به، ثم لما كان الكلام في عموم مقتضاه تعرضت لتعريف المقتضَى، وبينت أقسامه، وشروطه، ثم حققت خلاف الأصولييـن في عموم المقتضَى، ثم بينت أثر هذا الاختلاف في عموم مقتضَى الحديث. وقد سلكت في هذا البحث المنهج التكاملي في البحوث التطبيقية، وقد كانت خطة البحث مقسمة بعد المقدمة إلى تمهيد، ومبحثين، وخاتمة، ثم فهرست للمصادر والمراجع، والموضوعات.
