Abstract

Abstract:

Thyroid nodules represent a prevalent clinical challenge, impacting a significant segment of the world's populace. Even though the majority of thyroid nodules are benign, it is crucial for clinical practice to be able to correctly identify those that have the potential to become malignant. The investigation of advanced imaging modalities, such as scintigraphy and elastography, has been spurred by the need for accurate and non-invasive diagnostic instruments for thyroid nodule evaluation. A relatively recent addition to the field of medical imaging is elastography. Ultrasound is one of the imaging modalities used in this non-invasive procedure. Elastography provides a real-time assessment of tissue elasticity by measuring the stiffness and deformation of the tissue in response to mechanical compression. However, scintigraphy provides an alternative perspective for examining thyroid nodules. It offers useful details regarding the behavior of the thyroid nodule. The capacity of the nodules to concentrate and hold onto these radioactive tracers is measured by scintigraphy. We attempted to demonstrate the function of scintigraphy and elastography in thyroid nodules in this review.
