Abstract

The city of Ismailia was the real beginning of Sheikh Hassan Al-Banna (1) and the actual birth of the Muslim Brotherhood. Sheikh Hassan Al-Banna possessed a set of qualities that made him assume the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood movement. He was distinguished by his precision in choosing the topic and his understanding and jurisprudence in matters of religion. He was also distinguished by his superior ability to address minds, regardless of their culture. These factors had an impact in attracting a broad base of the masses to his call due to the stagnation of Al-Azhar scholars, their limited activity in interpretation, and their distance from the real concerns of the masses, and the lack of interest of the existing political parties in social problems, in addition to their lack of experience in this field. The emergence of the Muslim Brotherhood at that time represented a link between the ruling political leaders and the masses, so these masses turned to Hassan al-Banna as a preacher of the religion (2).
