Abstract

This study was conducted during the two successive seasons 2020 and 2021 using "Manzanillo" olive trees. Fruiting zone that is mainly concentrated especially outer-circumference of olive trees (about 50-70cm) by using anti-apical dominance compounds namely Phthalamic acid cis-cinamic acid and triiodobenzoic acid each at 25 ppm or at 50 ppm. These compound were classified as (non-auxin compounds). The effect of anti-apical dominance compounds on enhancing the number of lateral branches in Manzanillo olives. In a field experiment, foliar sprays of phenthalamic acid, cis-cinamic acid, or triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA) treatments were applied twice at the stage of bud swelling and one week later at a concentration of 25 ppm, or 50 ppm, for each.

The obtained results showed that a foliar application of all the anti-apical dominance examined resulted in a considerable increase in the number of branches as compared to the control especially cis-cinamic acid at 50 parts per million (ppm) and the of new shoots, and fruit yield per tree, and the number of fruits per mature branches and the percentage of pollen viability especially with cis-cinamic acid at 50 ppm. That caused the greatest increase in initiation vegetative and floral buds. Tree yield responded better to all of the anti-apical dominance application. No significant variations in fruit attribute indicators between treatments and the control. According to the findings of this study, it appears that a foliar spray of anti-apical dominance compounds for boosting the number of lateral branches in Manzanillo olive trees on a field scale.
