Abstract

Background Risk stratification of coronary heart disease is critical for determining clinical management. Coronary artery calcium (CAC) is a component of atherosclerosis almost solely found in atherosclerotic arteries. CAC score measured by non-contrast cardiac CT scan while exhibiting a low radiation dose provides a quantitative assessment of the overall coronary atherosclerotic burden. This study is aiming at evaluating the Significance of Segmental Coronary artery calcium score as a predictor of the severity of calcified coronary stenosis.
Objectives To estimate the probability of C50 % coronary stenosis based on computed tomography (CT) segmental calcium score (SCS)
Methodology A sample of 52 patients underwent CT calcium scoring and CT coronary angiography.
Results Out of these 52 patients, there were 25 significantly stenotic segments with calcium score above 50 and 15 significantly stenotic segments with calcium score below 50.
Conclusion In light of current discoveries, there was a highly statistically significant correlation between the segmental calcium score and significant coronary stenosis.
