The research studies the events of the first elections in Sudan immediately after the signing of the self-government agreement between the Egyptian and British governments in 1953, the results of those elections, the local and international reactions to them, the extent of the influence of the Egyptian and British governments on the course of events during that period, and the reasons for the victory of the Federal National Party over the Umma Party, while highlighting the role of the sect.
