Abstract

The lotus is an aquatic plant of the Nymphaeceas family, which includes more than fifty species. It grows in shallow waters in ponds and swamps and on the banks of rivers where it needs abundant amounts of water. The stem of the plant is soft and weak, and while its roots extend in the muddy depths, its flat leaves float. The wide is always above the surface of the water and does not go above it. And since ancient historical years, the lotus flower floats on the surface of the water in darkness and appears not dirty, and it may be in a dirty watery ocean. It rises from the middle of the water to become a symbol of life. The lotus flower is considered one of the most beautiful flowers that grow in the water. Aesthetic, religious, beliefs or cultures. The research sheds light on this distinctive plant, which scientists recently discovered that it can be used in nanoengineering applications to create surfaces capable of self-cleaning, and from here the researcher found a new creative field to apply this to contemporary artistic formations.
