Abstract

This research discusses the impact of the social dimension on the design of interior architecture in small residential spaces. It analyzes how social and cultural factors influence the design of the living environment within indoor spaces.  Emphasis has been placed on improving space design, material use and lighting to meet the social and interactive needs of residents.
The study analyzed two models of small residential spaces, one in the central plateau area in Mokattam and the other in Madinaty Compound, both in Cairo, designed and implemented by the researcher and through interviews for the beneficiaries (apartment owners) and their families to understand their needs and the impact of the social dimension on the design of interior architecture.
The study showed results indicating the importance of directing interior architecture towards meeting the social needs of the population and achieving comfort and well-being.
Based on the findings, the research recommends taking into account social factors in the design of small residential spaces, with a focus on improving the quality of the living environment and encouraging social interactions within it. Future trends include the use of advanced technology and innovative materials to improve the design of interior architecture and meet the needs of the community through small residential units.
This research is a contribution to understanding how social factors affect interior architecture design and how to improve the living environment in small residential spaces through design service and adaptation to social needs.
