Background: The misconception regarding overweight and obesity increase in the preparatory school girls are because spread of food advertisement on different social media. Aim: of this study to assess misconception of preparatory school girls regarding overweight and obesity at El-Wady El-Geded government. Design: A descriptive research design. Sample: A Purposive sample for overweight and obesity girls equal 400 girls. Setting: conducted at El-wady El-geded, Five cities in the governorate and 119 total preparatory schools. Tools: 1st tool: An interview questionnaire divided to 5 parts, 1st part: Demographic characteristics, 2nd part: Medical history and family history of the girl, 3rd. part: knowledge of preparatory school girls' misconception, 4th part: Attitude rating scale of the girls toward overweight and obesity, 5th part: Reported practice of the girls toward overweight and obesity 2nd tool: Physical assessment of the girls toward overweight and obesity. Results: demonstrates that, 54.5% of studied subjects had average total knowledge while 25.3% of them had poor total knowledge and 20.2% of them had good total knowledge regarding obesity. 65% of the studied subjects had negative total attitude and 35% of them had positive total attitude. 61% of the studied subjects had not done total reported practices and 39% of them had done total reported practices. Conclusion: high statistically significant positive correlation between total score knowledge, reported practice & total attitude regarding misconception of preparatory girls for overweight and obesity. Recommendations: Health education program for preparatory girls should be directed to improve their signs and symptoms regarding overweight and obesity.
