Organizational climate and its impact on the employees’ job satisfaction in the agricultural extension organization of the Governorates of Menoufia and Beheira

Abstract

This study aimed basically at identifying the current status of organizational climate of agricultural extension organization in both Menoufiya and Beheira governorates, and determining the impact of the organizational climate elements(the organizational structure, leadership style, participation in decision-making, communication style, the nature of work, technology, and organizational conflict) on employees' job satisfaction of the agricultural extension organization in the governorates of Menoufiya and Beheira. Data were collected from a random sample of 180 respondent, through personal interviews with respondents. Data were analyzed descriptively and analytically by using frequencies, percentages, range, mean, standard deviation, reliability estimate, t-test, f-test, One-Way Anova, Eta Squared, Pearson's r correlation coefficient,  and the multiple regression (step-wise) analysis. The most important findings of the study were: (1) The majority of employees (51 % at Menoufiya governorate, 65% at Beheira governorate) had a medium positive attitudes toward organizational climate of the agricultural extension organization. (2) The majority of employees of agricultural extension organization at Menoufiya governorate (about 56 %) had a high degree of job satisfaction, while about 58% of employees of agricultural extension organization at Beheira governorate (about 56 %) had a medium degree of job satisfaction from the point of view of respondents.  (3) The results of statistical tests revealed that there were significant differences between the two groups of respondents (Menoufiya governorate and Beheira governorate) regarding job satisfaction degree, and  attitudes toward organizational climate of the agricultural extension organization.  (4) The most independent variables affecting degree of employees' job satisfaction, were technology, employees' kind (males, and females), employees' training and the organizational structure respectively. These variables had explained about 39% of the variance of the employees' job satisfaction of agricultural extension organization at Menoufiya governorate.  (5) The most independent variables affecting degree of employees' job satisfaction respectively, were democratic leadership style, the nature of work,. These variables had explained about 52% of the variance of the employees' job satisfaction of agricultural extension organization at Beheira governorate.
