Abstract

The research aimed mainly to identify the Factors affecting of use of maize silage as animal fodder, by identifying characteristics of the respondents, identifying the extent of their use of maize silage as animal fodder, determining the knowledge level of respondents about the advantages of maize silage, identifying the most important factors affecting the respondents, use of maize silage, and finally, identifying the most important obstacles facing and their proposals to overcome them. Study was conducted in Sennores district in  fayoum governorate, as it is considered the largest district in terms of planted area of maize, Tersa village was chosen randomly, and a systematic random sample was taken of 322 respondents according to the Krejcie and Morgan equation, which respondent 16.3 % of the total holders in this village. Findings showed that more than half of respondent (57.8%) used maize silage, compared to 42.2% who did not use it. The results also showed that there was a significant relationship of between use of maize silage and the following variables; size of animal possession, cosmopolitiness, attitudes towards change, exposure to information sources, benefit from those sources, size of the land holding, ambition level, and the organizations membership. While there was no significant relationship between the use of silage and each of; age, educational status, leadership status, and knowledge of the advantages of silage.
