Abstract

The research aims to analyze the economics of wheat production in the northwest coast of Egypt, identify the extent of achieving efficiency in the use of available resources, and identify the most important obstacles facing farm management during the period (2005-2023). The study reached the following results: It was found that the speed of adaptation or adjustment in The total wheat production in the northwest coastal lands of wheat due to changes in area amounted to approximately 0.981, and the long-term impact of that response amounted to approximately 0.853 thousand tons, while the speed of adaptation or adjustment in the total local production of wheat in the new lands to changes in acreage productivity reached Approximately 0.564, and the long-term impact of that response amounted to approximately 6.40 thousand tons. It was also shown that the instability of production between increases and decreases is a result of the instability of both area and productivity in the North Coast lands. This means that the application of technological developments and the implementation of programs and projects concerned with that development of the wheat crop during the study period in the North Coast lands did not achieve their desired goals. The value of the coefficient of elasticity of wheat supply response in both the short and long term was estimated at about 0.21 and 0.61, respectively, and both the annual response coefficient and the response period were about 0.075 and 2.92 years, starting from the year following planting. It turned out that the net income standard for the wheat crop in the study sample amounted to about 8.19 thousand pounds, and the return-to-cost ratio for the crop was about 1.34, and as for the standard for the return of the invested pound, it amounted to about 0.34, and the percentage of profitability of the invested pound was about 46.42%, while the operating percentage for the crop was In the study sample, it was about 0.75%, while the profit margin percentage was about 25%. As for the marginal surplus criterion, it reached about 15120.79, which indicates that the efficiency of farm management for wheat crop production in the study sample has reached its maximum. Farm management in the farms of the study area faces many problems and obstacles, including: problems related to irrigation, problems related to seeds and seeds, problems related to agricultural machinery and farm labor, problems related to fertilization and pesticides, and finally problems related to marketing agricultural products. There are many factors determining investment decisions in the field of agriculture in the northwest coast region, the most important of which are: irrigation and drainage provisions, roads and means of transportation, legislation and laws, the availability of water in the region, the proximity of the region to populated residential areas, technological changes, and changing demand for products. Agricultural, farm area, information about crops such as profits and yield. The study recommends paying attention to the northwestern coastal region of Egypt, as it is considered one of the most promising new areas for agricultural development, and it can also contribute to achieving agricultural sustainability in its economic, social, and environmental aspects through the application of good agricultural practices.
