The study aimed to identify the most important productivity, economic, and food security indicators related to potato production in Libya during the period (2007-2021). The research reached the following results:
-   As for the productivity indicators of the potato crop in Libya, the average production amount was about 316 thousand tons, the average cultivated area was about 16.2 thousand hectares, and the average productivity reached about 19.6 tons/ha during the study period.
-   As for economic indicators, the average quantity of imports was about 16.6 thousand tons, and the average value of imports was about 9.8 thousand US dollars during the study period.
-   The calculation of food security indicators for potato production in Libya showed that the size of the food gap was about 15.6 thousand tons, with an average self-sufficiency rate of about 95% during the study period. The average period of adequacy of production for consumption is estimated at about 343.2 days, and the instability factor for the quantity produced and the cultivated area amounted to about 3.4% and 3.4%, respectively, during the study period.
-   Study the geographical distribution of Libya's imports of potato crops during the period (2017-2021) was found to be concentrated in 3 countries, namely the Netherlands, France, and Denmark, at about 91.6% per cent of Libya's potato imports.
 
The study recommends that farmers should be encouraged to expand vertical and horizontal potato crop cultivation to ensure continued supply of food, try to reduce imports, and create export surpluses to provide hard currency.
