Abstract

Great art works exceed the cognitive and aesthetic levels of their time; As they evoke more than knowledge alone. When moral images combine with their visual likeness; Artistic images are eloquently generated, then ideas and concepts are embodied in images and symbols. In many Non-heavenly religions, a goddess is a female being who is believed to have power over a particular part of the world or nature. In some cultures, the concept of “sacred female" has been linked to the symbolism of earth, motherhood, love, and family. While in other cultures, sacred females have been associated with symbolism of war, death, and destruction as well as healing. The concept and symbols of sacred female continued to influence ancient and contemporary graphic works. Many artists dealt with the symbols of the sacred female directly or indirectly, whether out of a specific religious belief or inspired by the enchanting powers of mythology or philosophical ideas adopted by the artist. This research highlights the concept of sacred female in the arts of different civilizations and cultures, analyzes sacred female's visual symbols, and the way these symbols were used in traditional and modern graphic arts.
