Abstract

The Worldwide, the rates of obesity, particularly among children and young adults, are rising. Heart failure, coronary disease, and peripheral vascular disease have all been linked to obesity, and the incidence of their consequences has also been found to fluctuate accordingly. Obese patients often exhibit early signs of heart failure, including subclinical left ventricular dysfunction. The purpose of this investigation is to use echocardiography to identify the impact of obesity on left ventricular functioning in young adults. Methodology: From July 2022 to May 2023, researchers at Benha University Hospital conducted a single-center, cross-sectional, non-randomized clinical observational study. Seventy-five healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 30 volunteered for the study and were evaluated using Echocardiography at Benha University Hospital's Cardiology department. Group I (control) consisted of participants with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or less, while Group 2 (obesity patients) consisted of participants with a BMI of 30 or more (case). Heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) showed no statistically significant changes between the groups (DBP). There were no statistically significant variations in PWTd across the groups. Mitral E wave velocity, Mitral A wave velocity, and the E/A ratio showed no statistically significant changes across the groups. Obese people had a greater IVSd than the control group.IVSd was found to be considerably higher in the obese population.
