Abstract

Background: Fetal well-being evaluation during pregnancy is a critical tool for ensuring optimal neonatal outcomes. Nurses have a major role for fetal wellbeing evaluation and improving the physical and psychosocial maternal condition. Study aim: Was to assess influence of instructional package on maternity nurses' knowledge and practices considering assessment of fetal wellbeing. Study design: It utilized a quasi-experimental design. Setting: Current research was carried out at Benha University Hospital, Obstetrics and Gynecological department. Sample: A handy sample included 50 maternity nurses. Tools of data collection: Data collection utilized 2 tools and included: Tool (I) Part I Self-administered questionnaire to assess maternity nurses' demographic data. Part II Evaluation of maternity nurses' understanding of foetal well-being evaluation. Tool (II) Maternity nurses' practices evaluation considering fetal wellbeing measures utilizing an observational checklist. Results: The current research indicated a highly statistically critical change in total nurses' appraisal of fetal well-being education and practice before, during, and during follow-up stages of educational bundle application. In addition, there was a statistically critical positive association between total knowledge and total practice scores before, during, and throughout the follow-up stage of educational bundle deployment. Conclusion: Instructional package had a positive influence on maternity nurses acknowledge and practices enhancing considering assessment of fetal wellbeing. Recommendations: Provide periodic in-service training sessions for nurses to strengthen their practical knowledge of fetal medical evaluation.
