نتناول في هذه البحث مفهوم الاستشراق في مفهومه اللغوي غير المتوفر في المعاجم اللغوية، وبين تعريفات الباحثين التي تباينت تباينا شديدا، ولعل هذا التباين يبدوا منطقيا إذا نظرنا إلى تاريخ الاستشراق وبداياته غير المعلومة بشكل واضح، أضف إلى ذلك الغموض الشديد الذي يتعلق بأهدافه وغاياته، مما صعب المهمة على الباحثين. ولعلنا سنكتشف في هذا البحث بعض الآراء والأفكار المطروحة حول تحديد ماهية الاستشراق بعضها كان قاصرا في توصيف، والبعض الآخر كان توصيفا شموليا، وآخر كان يتناول باعتبارات معينة وهكذا.
In this research, we discuss the concept of Orientalism in its linguistic sense, which is not available in linguistic dictionaries, and among the researchers' definitions that varied greatly. Perhaps this variation seems logical if we look at the history of Orientalism and its beginnings that are not clearly known, in addition to the extreme ambiguity related to its goals and objectives, which The task is difficult for researchers. Perhaps we will discover in this research some of the opinions and ideas proposed about defining the essence of Orientalism, some of which were limited in description, others were comprehensive descriptions, others were dealt with specific considerations, and so on.
