ظهر حماس خلفاء الأمويين لتثبيت أركان دولتهم واضحاً من خلال العمارة في جميع المناطق التي طالها الفتح الإسلامي، وبرز ميلهم للترف، بعدما وصلوا لدرجة عالية من الغنى وسعة العيش، فهموا بتخطيط المدن وعمارة الصروح من المنازل والقصور والحصون والطرق. فبنيت القصور العظيمة ذات الجمالية العالية في مناطق نائية، ويتناول هذا البحث دوافع بناء القصور الصحراوية، وأسباب توزيعها في أنحاء شتى من مناطق الشام خصوصاً في جنوب سوريا وفي الأردن وفلسطين، ومعرفة الدوافع الشخصية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية، وأهميتها لإثبات السيادة وحماية الطرق التجارية، ودورها على الصعيد السياسي والعلاقة مع القبائل العربية، وأهميتها التحصينية كونها حزام الأمان للدولة الأموية.The enthusiasm of the Umayyad caliphs to establish the pillars of their state appeared clearly through the architecture that they established in all the regions that were affected by the Islamic conquest, and their tendency to luxury emerged, after they reached a high degree of wealth and abundance of living. Great palaces of high aesthetics were built in remote areas, with a unique style that originated from the heart of the desert in the regions of the Levant. This research deals with the motives for building desert castles, and the reasons for their distribution in various parts of the Levant, especially in southern Syria, Jordan and Palestine, and knowing the personal, social and economic motives, and their importance to prove sovereignty and protect trade routes, and their role on the political level and the relationship with the Arab tribes, and their fortification importance as a belt safety of the Umayyad state.
