شهدت الفترة فيما بعد الحرب العالمية تشکل العديد من الأحلاف، والتي کان منها حلف بغداد، وقد اسس في عام 1955، وقد تشکل الحلف من کل من المملکة المتحدة من العراق وترکيا وإيران وباکستان، وتم حله في عام 1979. وتشابهت المواقف الأردنية اللبنانية إلى حد کبير إزاء حلف بغداد ففي البداية وافقت الحکومتان على المشارکة العاجلة في مؤتمر دعت إليه مصر للتصدي للمشروع، ورفض وفدا الحکومتين إقصاء العراق عن الصف العربي، و وزع الوفد الأردني الأدوار المتناقضة بين رئيس الوزراء ووزير خارجيته. وعلى الرغم من فشل الحکومة اللبنانية في إخفاء ميلها للمشروع إلا أنها لم تجاهر بذلک، وأکدت أنها تقوم بدور الوساطة بين الأطراف العربية.
The post-war period witnessed the formation of many alliances, including the Baghdad Pact, which was established in 1955, and the alliance was formed from the United Kingdom of Iraq, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan, and was dissolved in 1979. The Jordanian-Lebanese positions were very similar. Regarding the Baghdad Pact, at first the two governments agreed to participate urgently in a conference called by Egypt to confront the project. The delegations of the two governments refused to exclude Iraq from the Arab ranks. The Jordanian delegation distributed the contradictory roles between the prime minister and his foreign minister. Although the Lebanese government failed to conceal its inclination to the project, it did not declare it, and confirmed that it is playing a mediating role between the Arab parties.
