الملخص تهتم هذه الدراسة بتتبع مسار الجذور التاريخية للأزمات الحدودية بين العراق والكويت، وقد ركزت الدراسة على بداية ظهور الكويت ككيان مستقل عن الدولة العثمانية مرورًا بالأزمات السياسية مع العراق منذ عهد الملك غازي حتى أزمة عبدالكريم قاسم وأزمة الصامتة الحدودية، لإلقاء الضوء على النزاع الحدودي بين البلدين، وركزت الدراسة على أزمة 1990م؛ حيث أنه بعد انتهاء الحرب العراقية – الإيرانية، اتهم العراق الكويت باستغلال أبار النفط الحدودية بينهما، وساهموا في انخفاض أسعار النفط، مما أثر سلبًا على الاقتصاد العراقي، والتي ترتب عليها الغزو العراقي للكويت 1990م، وتشير الدراسة بشيء من التفصيل الأسباب والمبررات التي ساقها النظام العراقي لتبرير غزوه للكويت. كلمات افتتاحية: الكويت، العراق، غزو الكويت، الغزو العراقي للكويت، حرب الخليج الثانية Abstract  This paper is concerned with tracing the path of the historical roots of the border crises between Iraq and Kuwait. The paper focused on the beginning of the emergence of Kuwait as an independent entity from the Ottoman Empire, passing through the political crises with Iraq since the era of King Ghazi until the Abdul Karim Qasim crisis and Al Sammta border crisis, to shed the light on the border dispute between the two countries, this paper focused on the crisis of 1990 AD; Hence after the end of the Iraqi-Iranian war, Iraq accused Kuwait of exploiting the border oil wells between them, and they contributed lowering in oil prices, which negatively affected the Iraqi economy, which resulted in the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait 1990 AD. The paper indicates in some detail the reasons and justifications given by the Iraqi regime to justify His invasion of Kuwait.
