Abstract

COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, emerged in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, and has led to a global pandemic. Clinical presentations vary from mild symptoms like fever, cough, and fatigue to severe conditions such as pneumonia and respiratory distress. Predicting patient outcomes requires understanding symptoms and underlying conditions, along with initial assessments such as vital signs and laboratory biomarkers. Evaluating tools like the Veterans Health Administration COVID-19 (VACO) index and the Pandemic Respiratory Infection Emergency System Triage (PRIEST) score is essential for classifying patients and predicting their prognosis. These tools use clinical data to aid in accurate patient classification. Due to the variability in clinical presentations, understanding these factors is crucial for predicting outcomes. Accurate assessment and classification are vital for effective COVID-19 management and treatment.

AIM OF THE WORK:
The primary aim of this study was to correlate between the various clinical presentations and the outcome in patients known to have COVID-19 as proved by PCR positive.
The secondary aim of the current work is to explore the accuracy of the Veterans Health Administration COVID-19 (VACO) Index for COVID-19 Mortality and PRIEST COVID-19 Clinical Severity Scores in predicting the outcome of the patients.
