Abstract

This research aims at analyzing and estimating the impact of research and development on economic growth in Egypt during the period from 1990 to 2020 using several tests such as Unit Root, Granger Causality, ARDL, and other tests, with a hypothesis that states that research and development has a positive impact on economic growth in Egypt. There are several shreds of evidence from the previous economic literature that proves the significant, positive relationship between research and development and economic growth. Such
as Aghion and Howitti (1992) and Lee (2005).
After testing the relationship between the research variables and research and development, the research concluded that research and development have a positive and significant impact on economic growth in Egypt through economic analysis and the economic model.
The research recommends that the government of Egypt needs to direct its resources in better ways to
achieve more progress in the field of research and development which will eventually cause economic growth.
