تزداد مسألة التكنولوجيا أهمية متزايدة في عالمنا المعاصر وخصوصا فى الوطن العربى والمجتمع السعودى، وتزداد هذه الأهمية مع ما تمليه علينا لغة العولمة من فرض وتكريس لمعالم النموذج الحضاري الغربي، وفي الحالة السعودية العربية تطرح هذه الهيمنة توازيا مع هوية تمر بأزمة زادت من تحدياتها العولمة فى المجتمع السعودى، وجعلتها مصدر تهديد، سواء في التعامل مع المحددات الثقافية للأمة أو في التعامل مع العناصر الثابتة أو تلك المتغيرة في تشكيل الهوية، فاللغة والدين يعدان من الثوابت بينما العادات يمكن تغييرها بشكل ايجابي دون تأثير حاسم على الهوية، فتحديات التكنولوجيا تستدعي الاستفادة من إيجابياتها دون تذويب الثقافة المحلية وفقا للقيم الغربية، كما ينبغي كذلك الاهتمام أكثر بالرهان اللغوي والثقافي المحلي وكذا بالاندماج الاجتماعي، فالتعامل مع التكنولوجيا وتأثيراتها يتوجب المحافظة على الخصوصية المحلية دون الانعزال والانطواء على النفس ومسايرة متطلبات العصر بإيجاد حلول لجميع المشاكل العالقة. The issue of technology is becoming increasingly important in our contemporary world, especially in the Arab world and Saudi society, and this importance increases with what the language of globalization dictates to us in terms of imposing and devoting the features of the Western civilizational model, and in the Saudi Arab case this hegemony is presented in parallel with an identity that is going through a crisis that has increased its challenges from globalization in society Saudi Arabia, and made it a source of threat, whether in dealing with the cultural determinants of the nation or in dealing with fixed or variable elements in the formation of identity. Language and religion are considered constants, while customs can be positively changed without a decisive influence on identity, the challenges of technology necessitate benefiting from its advantages without dissolving the local culture in accordance with Western values. More attention should also be paid to the local linguistic and cultural bet, as well as to social integration. Dealing with technology and its effects requires preserving local privacy without isolation and introversion, and keeping pace with the requirements of the times by finding solutions to all outstanding problems.
