هدف البحث إلى التعرف على متطلبات تطوير التعليم الثانوي العام بمصر على ضوء أبعاد مجتمع المعرفة، وقد استخدم البحث المنهج الوصفي، متناولاً مفهوم تطوير التعليم الثانوي العام وأهدافه وأهميته وأهم المشكلات التي تواجهه في مصر، مفهوم مجتمع المعرفة وأهميته وأهدافه وأبعاده، وقد توصل البحث لمجموعة من المتطلبات لتطوير التعليم الثانوي العام في مصر على ضوء أبعاد مجتمع المعرفة والتي من أهمها المتطلبات الخاصة بفلسفة التعليم الثانوي العام والمتطلبات الخاصة بالمعلم وغيرها، وقد أوصي البحث بضرورة وضع رؤية واضحة واستراتيجية شاملة لتطوير التعليم الثانوي العام بما يتوافق مع متطلبات سوق العمل العالمي.
