Facial semiology, or the science of facial signals, is an important branch of semiology that studies signs and symbols in social and cultural life. This science focuses on how human faces are interpreted and perceived as a means of conveying a variety of meanings and emotions. Faces play a crucial role in human communication, expressing emotions, thoughts, and cultural identities in ways that go beyond words. It is concerned with understanding and interpreting different facial expressions and the meanings they carry in various social and cultural contexts. Facial semiology involves analyzing visual elements such as the eyes, mouth, eyebrows, and facial wrinkles, and how these elements contribute to conveying emotions and thoughts.
In this research, we will review the role of the expressive dimensions of facial semiology in shaping textile artwork. We will address the impact of facial expressions in conveying emotions and artistic messages within this type of art.
The research problem lies in how facial semiology can enrich the expressive aspect of artistic work. The research aims to enrich the expressive aspect of artistic work through facial semiology and to deepen the philosophical and formative thought of the expressive trend to enrich textile work. The importance of the research lies in confirming the integration between different fields of arts, especially the fields of painting and textiles, and benefiting from this in achieving aesthetic values in artistic work. The research results indicate that using semiology in teaching visual arts can enhance students' ability to communicate and express their feelings and emotions more effectively. The research recommends enhancing cooperation between the fields of visual arts, psychology, anthropology, and media studies to gain a deeper understanding of how semiology affects artistic expression.
